Holiday Gift Guide: Handmade Artisan Products for Intentional Gifting

One of my most favorite things about working at the studio has been collaborating with so many amazing artists and makers as part of creating a handcrafted, magical dream.

Here is our seasonal gift guide, complete with goods from many of our local artists and small businesses featured at the shop.

  1. Skipping Stone Co. makes amazing self care goods (you'll see them a lot in this guide), and is also an amazing woman run business in Marquette. If you have a friend who has amazing hair, they'll love this mist and one of the handmade hair pins from Kalil Zender Metalsmithing.

  1. Self care is always important - especially when that self care also comes with caring for the planet. Enjoy a nourishing earth butter (amazing for dry skin in the winter) and Epson Salt Solstice Soak from Skipping Stone Co., handmade soap from Native Sisters, and locally grown and harvested botanical tinctures from my mom's garden, Seeds & Spores Botanicals.

  1. We all have that person who loves being in the kitchen and serving food. We have multiple serving bowl sets in the shop, as well as some spoon rests and handmade linen potholders from Sakra Atelier.

  1. If you could capture my perfect winter morning, it would be this. Vibrant herbal tea, local wildflower honey from my friend Dougie, and a perfect little mug to sip by the window.

  1. Oh, this is another favorite. Isabelle of Grey Rose Metals is still a student at NMU, and casts these luna earrings from sterling silver. Aura Design Co. is another independent, badass woman-run business based out of L'Anse, making handmade leather goods.

  1. My favorite solo moments are those where I get to sit and reflect, journal, and dream. And the best things that go along with it? Tarot or oracle cards (we have a whole selection of my favorites in the shop), hand-dipped beeswax candles from Remnant Trading Company, and incense by P.F. Candle Co.

  1. For long winter nights of dreaming and reminiscing. Journal by Wayfaring Goods, and tealights from Remnant Trading Co.

  1. Did you know that you can paint with plants?!? I fell in love with these handmade water color paints from Boulder Colors at a workshop we had here at the studio, and of course had to get them for the shop (and make porcelain paint palettes to go along with them)

  1. I met the owner of Arkh Handmade Goods when I was down in Grand Rapids installing the sculpture for ArtPrize, and her beeswax wraps are amazing. Paired here with a hand stitched coffee filter from Remnant Trading, and that amazing wildflower honey.

  1. Find me in the pages of a book - a few favorites.

  1. Kalil Zender Metalsmithing has such incredible work. We have a whole jewelry case filled with her pieces.

  2. I started playing around with more elaborate designs with the gold luster on these little ring dishes, inspired by my Croatian heritage.

  1. Yount Mountain Tea is a local company that has an incredible mission working with farmers in the Himalayas to build sustainable practices within agriculture there, and also to bring more awareness to Indian tea culture. We partnered with them this fall to make handcrafted Chai cups! Check them out here.

We hope to see you at the shop! Open full hours until Christmas, and available by appointment if needed.
